Acupuncture and Natural Medicine for Alcohol-Related Conditions

Our clinical practice provides caring and confidential support for patients with alcohol-related conditions or concerns. We provide a safe, accepting, and welcoming environment, along with specialized care in the fields of acupuncture and holistic health. We have helped many individuals take significant steps to greater health and happiness.

In a 2006 study, the CDC found that excessive alcohol consumption costs the U.S. economy approximately $223.5 billion per year due to lost productivity, medical expenses, accidents, and other societal costs.1 Tragically, much of the costs associated with lost productivity are due to early mortality, and 1 in 10 deaths of working age adults (age 20-64) are due to excessive alcohol consumption.2

Women4 drinks during a single occasion8 or more drinks during a week

Women are more sensitive to the harmful effects of alcohol consumption, while men more frequently tend to drink to excess. Many individuals who experience alcohol-related health conditions actually do not meet the criteria for alcoholism or alcohol dependence. Alcohol-related illnesses can affect both men and women.

Conditions associated with alcohol include but are not limited to: liver conditions, acute and chronic pancreatitis, gastritis, kidney disease, peripheral neuropathy, alcohol-related neuropathy or limb paralysis, cancer, atrial fibrillation, and other cardiovascular concerns. Alcohol can also contribute to worsening symptoms of mental health conditions such as depression and bipolar disorder.

Because alcohol is present in many social settings, people who are trying to reduce their alcohol consumption may wish to actively create new social routines and health practices. When an individual is striving to reduce or abstain from alcohol, he or she may find it useful to exercise more frequently, practice yoga, or try acupuncture or meditation.

As an acupuncturist and holistic health practitioner, Dr. Windsor uses the latest research to find solutions for patients with addictions or related concerns. During treatment for these concerns, it may be necessary to address another underlying condition or reason for the lifestyle pattern we are trying to change. We will create an integrated treatment strategy for your unique concerns and conditions. We welcome the opportunity to partner with you, and with your other medical providers, in order to help you achieve the best outcome possible for your life.

"I feel honored to partner with my patients who are trying to make significant lifestyle changes. My goal is always to listen without judgement and to offer a sense of what may be possible after the individual breaks free from a chemical addiction. This may be a current problem, but it does not need to define the future. "
