Kienböck's disease is caused when the blood supply to one of the wrist bones, the lunate bone, is
impaired. As the condition progresses, patients may experience
inflammation and pain in the wrist and hand. In advanced cases of
Kienböck's disease, it is possible that there may be a loss of
functional bone tissue in the lunate bone.
