Acupuncture for Relief of Torticollis

We have occasionally received referrals from the emergency room for patients with tortocollis. This is a rare condition which affects the muscles of the neck, often causing a bulging appearance on the side of the neck. In our experience, this condition typically resolves in 1-2 acupuncture sessions. Although it is possible that chronic cases of this condition may exist, the cases we have seen resolved very quickly with our treatment, and without any reported side-effects.

It appears to us that the treatment of this condition with acupuncture requires an acupuncturist with a high level of skill and attention to safety. This is due to the sensitive anatomy of the affected area. In our practice we use a combination of procedures which promote safety as well as the highest level of treatment accuracy achievable with available technology.
